The magnificent Calanais (Callanish) Stones on the Isle of Lewis, stand proudly on a low ridge above the waters of Loch Roag with the hills of Great Bernera as a backdrop.
The stones at Calanais and surrounding archaeological sites were a focus for prehistoric peoples and are thought to have been erected 5,000 years ago, pre-dating Stonehenge.
