Harris Tweed Hebridean Poncho from Anna MacNeil
The stunning Harris Tweed Hebridean Poncho... no two ever identical - these are pieces of wearable art -100% Made in Scotland. The Hebridean Ponchos are exceptional, completely made in Scotland and finished to a very high standard, a wonderful addition to your wardrobe that you will forever treasure.
New this season, these ponchos are very popular. They are a traditional shape, but there is a concealed open-ended zipper which means you don't have to pull it on and off over your head. Around the inside of the neck edge there is a pure silk lining, making it very comfortable round your neck. The fit at the neckline can be adjusted by means of two neat cords which tie in a small bow, so if you feel the cold around your neck you can pull it up tight for a snug fit, but if you want more breathing space you can set it looser.
There is an embroidered appliqué patch center back and center front and an embroidered border detail that conceals the zip.
They only have a few meters in any one color/pattern so they can guarantee that no two are the same.
If you have a special color that you would like, please reach out and we will have it specially made for you. Please allow 45 weeks for creations and delivery.
Anna Macneil is run by a grandmother and her granddaughter. Based in Kirkwall, Inverness they specialize in creating products that reflect Scotland's History and landscape using technology that spans the centuries - from a 100 year old Hattersley loom to state-of-the-art embroidery machines and a laser cutting machine, and finally, everything is hand finished.
The main fabric for their beautiful capes, ponchos and hats is Harris Tweed, a handwoven pure wool tweed from the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. Creating all their own designs, both the shape of the product and any decorative elements, every item is individually made and hand finished on their own premises.
Most of the decorative buttons are hand made, using polymer clay blended and shaped to co-ordinate with the tweed and embroidery. Occasionally some are fused glass, made at a stained glass studio on the other side of Inverness.
Their designs are inspired by the ancient Pictish sculptured stones that are unique to Scotland. These stones, decorated with mysterious symbols, intricate knotwork, key patterns, spirals, crosses and zoomorphic forms, provide infinite possibilities for decorating their wonderful products.
