Celtic Alba Thistle Scarf from Calzeat
Few national emblems have a more dramatic origin story than Scotland's beloved thistle and this beautifully woven scarf from Calzeat of Scotland tells it beautifully.
A thousand years ago, during a Viking invasion of Scotland, an advancing enemy warrior stepped on a thistle and cried out in pain, inadvertently waking the sleeping Scotsmen and alerting them to the Norse invaders. So grateful was King Kenneth III that the thistle was adopted as Scotland's national emblem, where it has proudly remained ever since.
This scarf celebrates that proud heritage in a beautiful combination of lilac, purple and soft green, Scotland's national flower rendered in exquisite jacquard woven detail in a luxurious blend of 45% wool and 55% chenille. Wonderfully soft against the skin, it drapes beautifully as a classic scarf or wrap.
At 35cm x 170cm (13.8" x 66.9") including fringes it's a generous and practical size for any season. Dry clean only.
