Something rather special happened at Bill Baber's Edinburgh studio in 2025, 100% Scottish Shetland wool joined the collection for the first time, and the Barra Shawl was one of the very first pieces created to celebrate it. Real Shetland wool has a quality all of its own, a beautiful handle and natural bounce that makes it lighter and livelier than you might expect from a wool shawl. The Barra is shaped around the neckline rather than having a cowl neck, giving it an easy, relaxed feel that sits effortlessly on the shoulders without any bulk.

The classic Celtic Cable motif runs across one shoulder and down the back, a timeless design that feels both ancient and completely contemporary. Bands of textured fabric across the body add depth and interest to the piece, while a loose, lightly folded neckline completes the look with quiet elegance.

Diamond shaped and almost square in its proportions, it measures approximately 32" (81cm) from neck to peak and 36" (91cm) from side to side, generously sized without being overwhelming, and easy to wear in any number of styles.
