Serape in Scottish Borderland Tartan
from the Lochcarron collection

Serape in Scottish Borderland Tartan
Some tartans have a story that goes beyond the threads, and the Scottish Borderland is one of them.
Designed in 1996 by Alistair Buchan, the previous owner of Lochcarron of Scotland, this district tartan was inspired by the colors of one of Scotland's most dramatic and storied landscapes. The blues and greys of the River Tweed running through the region, the soft greens that blanket the hills from Peebles across to the east coast, all of it woven into an olive-based tartan with royal blue, cream and mustard overchecks that feels as timeless as the land that inspired it.
The Scottish Borders was home to some of Scotland's most legendary clans, the Elliots and the Scotts among them, where relationships between Border clans ranged from uneasy alliances to open, deadly feud. Wearing this tartan is wearing a little of that history.
Crafted from 100% lambswool and made proudly at Lochcarron's mill in the heart of the Scottish Borders, fittingly, the very landscape that inspired it. Worn over the shoulders like a cape, it layers beautifully over jumpers or a coat, and works as effortlessly at a wedding as it does on a country walk. At 140cm x 180cm (55" x 70") including roped fringe it drapes beautifully on any body.
Dry clean only.

The Scottish Borderland Lambswool Serape tells the story of one of Scotland's most dramatic landscapes — designed in 1996 by Lochcarron's previous owner and inspired by the River Tweed, the rolling Border hills and the legendary clan history of the region.
